I was inspired by my recent project for Speedplay Pedals to explore the world of close-up photography. 

My goal was to create evocative images of everyday objects. The detail is absolutely amazing; there is a surprising beauty in these images. I have found that sometimes the best way to tell a story is to get really close.

Speedplay Pedals Advertising Campaign

These images are from the 2014 ad campaign for Speedplay Pedals, plus two test shots of the new Speedplay Brass Knuckles pedals. Great products, among the most highly regarded equipment for serious cyclists, especially professionals. The list of palmares for Speedplay is long!

This campaign was a great challenge; to combine evocative location images with beautiful product photography.

I photographed the roads mainly in Southern California, finding the best stretches of asphalt to appeal to riders and tell the client's story.

As a cyclist myself, this is a dream project!

On The Road Again

Somewhere the sun is shining.

Despite the current winter storms, I always try to find the ideal shooting situation, whether it is a sunny place, or even a location with the likelihood of heavy weather.

Whatever is right for the story we need to tell, I'll take you there. 

And we'll get the best images.
